Chiropractic Care

Adjusting the second neck vertebra.

Chiropractic care is a method of healthcare that is drug-free and deals with the proper function of the joints of the spine and limbs. The spinal vertebrae have several larger and smaller joints on each side. Slight subluxations, or changes in the normal range of joint motion, can result in pain and compromise the spinal nerves. This can lead to chronic pain, arthritis and reduced use and function of the entire body. With a subtle and gentle hands-on technique, the proper function of the patient’s joints can be restored. Pain is relieved and the pet can move more freely and easily again. Specific training for veterinary chiropractics is imperative as our patients’ spines are quite different from a human’s spine.

Chiropractic care is a great treatment for spinal arthritis, which is fairly common in cats. It also helps to relieve pain from arthritis in other joints and to promote healthy use of the spine in cases where the patient may be altering their movement to compensate for a painful condition. Chiropractic care can also be used to treat problems such as incontinence or chronic digestive problems. If your pet has an issue with an internal organ, a chiropractic assessment can give us information on whether the spinal nerves that serve those organs might be impaired due to a subluxation. If subluxations are found in the area of interest, adjusting and repairing them can often relieve the associated condition.
